Elisabetta, perché decidi di diventare una wedding planner cosa volevi fare “da piccola?” Quale è la tua storia?
È cominciato tutto per caso, molti anni fa venivo sempre invitata a tutti i matrimoni di amici e colleghi perché ero solita organizzare, come da usanza del luogo, le serate divertenti della notta prima con amici e parenti, gli scherzi durante il giorno delle nozze che coinvolgevano un po’ tutti, e via via capii il perché degli innumerevoli inviti. Un giorno durante l’organizzazione di uno di questi matrimoni, uno degli invitati mi dice: “Ma tu lo fai di lavoro questo… vero?? Perché si vede proprio la tua passione!!” Ecco… quello è stato il momento che ha dato inizio a tutto… Poi mi sono trasferita in Toscana, terra per eccellenza di matrimoni per stranieri… ed eccomi qui…
…Cosa volevo fare “da piccola” non ha molto a che fare con la Wedding planner… non ci crederai, volevo fare l’insegnate di educazione fisica e la disegnatrice di gioielli.
Nel passato ho lavorato molto nella GDO, e diciamo che tutte le mie esperienze lavorative insieme ad alcuni master hanno formato e modellato quella che sono oggi.
Quali sono le caratteristiche che deve avere una brava wedding planner?
Fondamentale è la capacità organizzativa, la tenacia, la sincerità e la serenità.
Mi sento molto fortunata nel poter condividere i sogni, le emozioni e persino le paure di uno dei giorni più belli della vita di una persona.
Dove sei solita lavorare e chi sono i tuoi clienti più italiano o stranieri?
Per lo più con gli stranieri, ma non mancano gli italiani.
La Toscana è la destinazione in cui sono più presente, ho lavorato a Venezia, Roma, Costiera Amalfitana e Como. Sto partendo proprio ora con un progetto che coinvolgerà sia la Grecia che la Scozia… ma non dico nulla. Durante i miei lavori non mancano mai i miei due portafortuna, le scarpe da ginnastica e gli infradito. Seguo con questi accessori tutto lo smontaggio finale.
Ogni volta preparo un piccolo cadeau con mio staff, sorprendiamo così sempre gli sposi.
Non ho un tocco personale negli allestimenti perché credo molto nel tailor made, siamo tutti diversi nel mondo… così deve essere anche il matrimonio.
E concludendo ricordi un tuo matrimonio bello ma impegnativo?
Sinceramente ne ricordo due molto impegnativi e difficili. Quello più difficile è stato durante un’alluvione di qualche anno fa .. eravamo nel mezzo di un’oliveta, e garantisco che la giornata è stata davvero tosta, ma la riconoscenza e le parole degli sposi e della mamma dello sposo a fine giornata, ci hanno ripagato di tutto! Ci vorrebbero altre due interviste per poterti descrivere quella giornata.
Un altro è stato quando uno degli chef ha avuto un infarto, anche lì, come nell’altro evento, fondamentale è stata la collaborazione di tutti.
Ho una predisposizione innata nel creare e credere nei team, perché sono fermamente convinta che da soli non siamo nulla, ognuno ha le sue peculiarità, la mia “bravura” sta nel vedere e mettere insieme per creare la giusta alchimia, con lo scopo finale del Taylor made.
Elisabetta, why did you decide to become a wedding planner?
What did you want to do when you were a “little girl”? What is your history?
It all started by accident. Many years ago I attended the weddings of many friends and colleagues. For each of them I used to organize the serenade of the night before the wedding (a fun event, typical of my country, involving friends and relatives of the newlyweds) and many activities and jokes during the reception, in which all the guests participated.
During the organization of one of these weddings, one of the guests asked me “this is your job, isn’t it? Because I notice the passion and commitment you put into it”…. it all started from there! Then I moved to Tuscany, the quintessential land of foreign marriages… and here I am! What I wanted to do as a child, actually, was very far from the idea of wedding planner…you won’t believe it…I wanted to be a physical education teacher and jewelry designer!
I’ve worked a lot in the field of large-scale distribution in the past. All my work experience and some masters, that I attended, have helped me to create the person I am today.
What are the characteristics that a good wedding planner must have?
Organizational ability, tenacity, sincerity and seriousness are fundamental. I feel very lucky to be able to share the dreams, the emotions and even the fears of one of the most beautiful days in a persons’s life.
Where are you used to work and who are your customers, more Italian or foreign?
Mostly I work with foreigners, but also with many Italians. Tuscany is the area where I work the most, but I also had experiences in Venice, Rome, the Amalfi Coast and Lake Como. I’m starting right now with a project that will involve Greece and Scotland…but I don’t say anything!
What’s never missing in your marriages? Do you have a personal touch in your set-ups?
I always carry two lucky charms, sneakers and flip-flops, which follow me throughout the final dismantling of each event. Every time my staff and I prepare a small gift to surprise our couples.
I don’t have a personal touch in the set-ups because I believe a lot in tailor made. We are all different so every wedding must be unique and original!
In conclusion, among the weddings you have planned, do you remember a nice but challenging one?
Honestly, I remember two weddings very challenging and difficult. The most difficult was during a flood a few years ago. We were in the middle of an olive grove and the day was very exhausting!
At the end of the event, however, our hard work and commitment were rewarded by the words of thanks of the spouses and the mother of the groom. Another complicated marriage was the one where the chef had a heart attack. In all these situations, the collaboration of my entire team was fundamental. I’m particularly good at choosing and believing in team. I am convinced that alone we are nothing, everyone has their own peculiarities and I can see them and put them together, creating the right alchemy.
